This literature review discusses the relationship between mental health and juvenile justice system involvement, barriers to mental health treatment, and evidence-based programs and practices shown to improve outcomes for youth with mental health needs.
The Administrator is appointed by the President and shall develop objectives, priorities, and a long-term plan to improve the juvenile justice system in the United States, taking into account scientific knowledge regarding adolescent development and behavior and regarding the effects of delinquency prevention programs and juvenile justice interventions on adolescents.
