Abstract

This brief, informational document demonstrates the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) National Juvenile Court Data Archive’s graphical representation of workloads over time, of the nation’s juvenile court systems. Graphs showing the trends, starting from 2005 or 2006 through 2020, depict the following: caseloads for all delinquency offence categories; reasons for delinquency, noting that person offense cases accounted for the greatest proportion of the delinquency caseload in 2020; dispositions for adjudicated delinquency cases, featuring probation, placement, or other sanctions; delinquency caseload per age range and race, including, white, black, Hispanic, or other; and the percent of petitioned cases that were adjudicated as delinquent compared to other offenses such as person or property offenses, drugs, or public order offenses. The document also provides information for the OJJDP Statistical Briefing Book.
