This program will fund a national training and technical assistance program for attorneys who are involved in the criminal prosecution of child abuse to enhance the effectiveness of the investigation and prosecution of such crimes.
The training and technical assistance program will address a wide range of topics related to improving the investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect, including information regarding improved child interview techniques, thorough investigative methods, interagency coordination, and effective presentation of evidence in court. Training and technical assistance will be provided to prosecutors who prosecute child abuse cases in juvenile and adult courts. The training and technical assistance program will address the prosecution of child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, technology facilitated child exploitation, and child fatalities. It will also address more specialized topics, such as serial child torture, abusive head trauma, prosecution of abusive burn cases, drowned child cases, hot car deaths, and investigation of female offenders.
