The OJJDP FY 2019 Victims of Child Abuse (VOCA) Act Training and Technical Assistance for Child Abuse Prosecutors program will fund a national training and technical assistance program for attorneys and others who are involved in the criminal prosecution of child abuse to enhance the effectiveness of the investigation and prosecution of such crimes. The successful applicant will be required to provide training and technical assistance that includes information regarding improved child interview techniques, thorough investigative methods, interagency coordination, and effective presentation of evidence in court, including the use of alternative courtroom procedures.
This training and technical assistance program will address a wide range of topics related to improving the investigation and prosecution of child abuse and neglect. Training and technical assistance will be provided to prosecutors who prosecute child abuse cases in juvenile and adult courts. The training and technical assistance program will address emerging topics in the field, such as serial child torture, abusive head trauma, prosecution of abusive burn cases, drowned child cases, and defending the forensic interview at trial.
