Each year, the U.S. Department of Justice, through OJJDP, recognizes the extraordinary efforts of individuals, organizations, and agencies that have made a significant contribution to protecting children between November 15, 2019 and November 20, 2020. The Department recognizes the awardees each May at the annual National Missing Children's Day ceremony in Washington, DC.
This project provides training and technical assistance (TTA) support to enhance the AMBER Alert Network; and serves to increase and improve the law enforcement response to missing, endangered, and abducted children. Goals include efforts to increase the recovery rate of abducted children, strengthen child alert systems in the nation’s northern and southern borders and tribal communities to protect children, increase community understanding of issues related to child abuse and exploitation; and implementation of the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act of 2018.
