The quarterly AMBER Advocate magazine is sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and reviews AMBER Alert cases and activities in various states as well as internationally.

Abstract

This first issue of 2023 for the The AMBER Advocate includes a Cover Story that examines learning experiences available in 2023, specifically, about the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program (ATTAP) efforts across the U.S., including Indian Country, and internationally. The issue also includes the following sections: On the Front Lines, which discusses the successful return of a teenage boy from an accused sexual predator; Faces of the AMBER Alert, highlights the career path and qualifications of Joan Collins, who is the Region One Liaison for AATTAP; AMBER Alert—United States, discusses Florida’s provision of free child-ID kits, Colorado’s recovery of 11 high-risk missing children, Navajo Nation’s new missing person’s guidelines, the use of 23andMe’s genetic testing for the resolution of a 51-year old kidnapping case; AMBER Alert—International, discusses five mothers in Mexico who searched for disappeared family members, and World Children’s Day and missing children in Europe; and In the Spotlight, with a spotlight on Byron Fassett for winning the Champion of Freedom Award for his leadership in AATTAP.
