Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $225,000)
The Center for Innovation and Research, Inc. will develop and sustain a national membership organization of nonprofit organizations serving families of missing children. This project will promote culturally appropriate organizational capacity through resource sharing and peer learning among its members and target stakeholders: non-profit organizations, law enforcement, government, clearinghouses and community-based organizations. The project will identify best practices for working with families of missing children and disseminate information on those practices in both English and Spanish; develop partnerships with key stakeholders serving families of missing children; convene a national membership meeting for members and stakeholders; convene a national training conference for members and stakeholders; recruit non-profit organizations serving families of missing and exploited children; and recruit non-profit organizations working with culturally and racially diverse and underserved communities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
