Tribal Reentry Green Training and Technical Assistance Center

OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2010 (Pub. L. 111-117) -- H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366.

EDC will provide Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) to Tribal Juvenile Detention Centers (TJDCs) through the Tribal Juvenile Detention and Reentry TTA Center (TJDR TTAC) with partners National Indian Youth Leadership Project (NIYLP) and the Sustainable Nations Development Project (SNDP). The project's goal is to enhance TJDCs capacity to provide culturally appropriate, comprehensive support services and educational/vocational programming for successful reentry into school and community. The TJDR TTAC will serve up to five new OJJDP-funded Reentry Grantees and multiple other TJDCs; and support the development and dissemination of much needed database systems for all Reentry Grantees. Expert American Indian Technical Assistance Specialists, partners NIYLP and SNDP and Technical Partners from across Indian Country will provide: a New Grantees Orientation, first year strategic planning site visits, individualized TA, peer to peer site visits and data systems enhancements to 2010 grantees; peer to peer site visits and a TJDC staff training module for 2009 grantees; a National TJDC Meeting, expanded Tribal Juvenile Detention and Reentry Resource Center, peer to peer site visits, and a Best Practices monograph, for all TJDCs. EDC will measure progress with its Web-based TTA database system, pre/post test instruments, and TA survey to track required OJJDP performance measures. NCA/NCF

Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) will provide Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) to OJJDP Tribal Juvenile Detention and Reentry Grantees (TJDRG), Tribal Youth (TY) Detention and Reentry grantees, and non-OJJDP funded Tribal Juvenile Detention Centers (TJDC's) through the Tribal Juvenile Detention and Reentry TTA Center (TJDR TTAC). The project's goal is to enhance all TJDC's capacity to provide culturally appropriate, comprehensive support services and educational/vocational programming for successful reentry of tribal youth into schools and the community. The TJDR TTAC will: 1) improve services provided to tribal youth in detention and reentry programs, 2) improve vocational and employment opportunities for re-entering tribal youth within TJDC communities, 3) advance the dissemination of emerging best practice models for detention and re-entry programs serving tribal youth, and 4) improve TJDC's capacity to manage and report data and monitor JDC standards. American Indian Technical Assistance Specialists and Technical Partners from across Indian Country will provide: TY New Grantee Orientation sessions; onsite training visits; peer-to-peer site visits; individualized TA; a National Meeting on best practices for all TJDCs; and an expanded TJDR National Resource Center website. EDC will measure progress with its Web-based TTA database system, pre/post test instruments, and TA survey to track required OJJDP performance measures.
