Project Summary for 2001-JD-FX-0007 (S-1)

The San Frencisco Department of Children, Youth and Families is completing a detailed assessment of the local youth gang problem and is developing a program plan that will include community-wide collaboration to implement gang prevention, intervention, and suppression activities as called for under OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model. The five key strategies of OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model are (1) Community Mobilization,(2) social intervention including street outreach, (3) suppression, (4) vocational and educational opportunities provision and (5) organizational change. The current application for funding will support the first year of implementation of this program plan. Althouth a direct match is not required for this funding period, the applicant will be drawing together additional resources to support full implementation fo the comprehensive Gang Model.
