Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $440,107)
The purpose of the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is to investigate the criminal sexual exploitation of children through the use of technology. This effort is an immediate and necessary one as the number of children using internet technology is rising. There is a nationwide increase in predators seeking child victims online; likewise, Oklahoma continues to see an increase in child sexual exploitation by use of technology. The Oklahoma ICAC task force will utilize proactive means to conduct undercover investigations in the online exploitation of children and will investigate reported online child exploitation through the CyberTipline and from the general public. More specifically, the Task Force will work to: increase the number of both proactive and reactive investigations; increase the number of forensic examinations; increase the number of referrals received from other ICAC Task Forces and federal partners; increase the capabilities of the Oklahoma ICAC Task Force agencies in the investigation of technology-facilitated crimes against children; enhance the Oklahoma ICAC Task Force’s effectiveness in preventing these types of offenses; and formalize law enforcement partnerships through written agreements.
