Each April, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs celebrates Second Chance Month to recognize the importance of helping individuals, communities, and agencies across the country appreciate their role in supporting the safe and successful reentry of millions of people returning from incarceration each year.

During the week of April 12, 2024, the Youth Reentry Training and Technical Assistance Center sat down with representatives from Youth for Change (YFC), Sarah Feingold and Karen Eley, to discuss youth-led reentry planning.

During the week of Mar 29, 2024, the Youth Reentry Technical Assistance Center sat down with Youth MOVE representatives John and Brittany to discuss peer support processes.

During the week of April 8, 2024, YRTAC sat down with Amy Bradshaw Hoppock, AMIkids Vice President of Behavioral Health. This discussion focuses on research funded under a Second Chance Act grant award that explores the impact of family engagement on the success of detained youth.

This weekly podcast series is part of Second Chance Month 2024. During the week of April 2, 2024, the Youth Reentry Technical Assistance Center (YRTAC) featured the work of Second Chance Act grantee, the Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS). JJYS provides a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs to detained youth while assuring public safety.

Held on March 27, 2024, this webinar assisted eligible applicants interested in applying for the OJJDP FY 2024 Second Chance Act Youth Reentry Program Solicitation. It provided a general overview of the program, the goals and objectives, a discussion about the application process, and a Q&A opportunity for participants.

Held on March 28, 2024, this webinar assisted eligible applicants interested in applying for the OJJDP FY 2024 Second Chance Act Addressing the Needs of Incarcerated Parents and Their Minor Children Solicitation. It provided a general overview of the program, the goals and objectives, a discussion about the application process, and a Q&A opportunity for participants.

Held on April 4, 2023, this webinar featured a panel of young people talking about their reentry experiences with the goal of helping professionals better understand and help young people to thrive.
