Description

July 2024

2021 and 2022 estimates are now available, along with revised estimates for 2020.

The July 2024 update to EZAPOP replaces the earlier version of the 2020 estimates. Users who downloaded 2020 population data prior to July 2024 are encouraged to update their data extracts with the revised estimates.

EZAPOP has long relied on data files prepared by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to provide national/state/county population estimates detailed by single year of age, sex, race, and ethnicity; these files are conventionally known as the bridged-race series. NCHS published its final set of bridged-race estimates in September 2021, which included data through 2020. An alternative data source for EZAPOP was not available until April 2024, when the National Cancer Institute (NCI) released a version of the bridged-race series with estimates through 2022. The July 2024 update to EZAPOP blends the NCHS estimates (1990-2019) with those produced by NCI (2020-2022).

January 2013

Final intercensal estimates for 2000-2009 are now available.

The January 2013 update to Easy Access to Juvenile Populations (EZAPOP) makes use of the National Center for Health Statistics' (NCHS) revised intercensal population estimates for the 2000s, posted online on October 26, 2012. The revised estimates are the "final" estimates for 2000-2009. With the January 2013 update of EZAPOP, we revised the estimates for all data years from 2000 through 2009 based on the following NCHS data file: National Center for Health Statistics. Intercensal estimates of the resident population of the United States for July 1, 2000-July 1, 2009, by year, county, single-year of age (0, 1, 2, .., 85 years and over), bridged race, Hispanic origin, and sex. Prepared under a collaborative arrangement with the U.S. Census Bureau. Available from: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/bridged_race.htm as of October 26, 2012, following release by the U.S. Census Bureau of the revised unbridged intercensal estimates by 5-year age group on October 9, 2012.
