Top Story: OJJDP Hosts Virtual Tribal Consultation

On June 25, 2020, OJJDP hosted a tribal consultation via webinar with 288 tribal leaders and representatives from across the country. The consultation sought feedback on how OJJDP can assist tribes in carrying out provisions of the Juvenile Justice Reform Act and increase their access to juvenile justice funding.

According to Juveniles in Residential Placement, 2017, the number of youth in residential placement decreased 59 percent between 1997 and 2017. There were 43,580 youth in residential placement in 2017, the lowest level since data collection began in 1997.
