President Donald J. Trump proclaimed October as National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. OJJDP is committed to supporting states and communities as they work to prevent and treat substance abuse and assist in the recovery of youth and families who have been impacted. Through opioid-focused prevention and intervention programs and specialized training and technical assistance, OJJDP is working to break the cycles of addiction and crime, and save lives. In addition, OJJDP-funded drug courts provide services to help youth and families overcome the effects of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders.
"This month, we pause to remember the lives lost to addiction, and recommit to protecting all Americans — particularly our Nation's young people — from the devastating effects drugs can have on them and their loved ones." — President Donald J. Trump
