OJJDP has published "A Law Enforcement Guide on International Parental Kidnapping." This guide is designed to help local, state, and federal law enforcement prevent and respond to international parental kidnapping cases. The guide describes law enforcement's role as initial responders and investigators, discusses laws and legal remedies for child recovery and reunification, and outlines considerations for criminal prosecution and extradition of offenders.
