Helping Youth Navigate Dangers in the Digital Age Webinar
OJJDP hosted "Helping Youth Navigate Dangers in the Digital Age" as part of OJJDP's Preventing Youth Hate Crimes & Identity-Based Bullying Initiative webinar series on February 17, 2022.
During the webinar, intended for school communities, presenters:
- Helped participants understand how to identify and differentiate between misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation.
- Taught participants how to help youth mitigate what they see on the internet and build resiliency against extremist hate groups.
- Demonstrated various tools and resources to help youth identify misinformation.
- Explained how to identify information on hate group recruitment reported by major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, TikTok) and how to empower caregivers to identify and report potential hate groups and hate crimes.
