Abstract

This resource provides an introduction to the Youth MOVE (Motivating Others through Voices of Experience) National program, the American Institutes for Research (AIR), and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The section on promoting youth recruitment and retention on State Advisory Groups (SAG) provides an assessment form, as well as a discussion of challenges and solutions for recruiting youth, developing mentorship programs, and youth conference/summit planning. Other sections provide information on increasing engagement with unique populations, which include justice impacted communities, youth who are at-risk of involvement in the criminal justice system, indigenous youth, BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ youth, and rural youth; youth-adult partnership, which also provides an assessment checklist and discussion of related benefits and challenges; and youth engagement readiness, with an assessment tool for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging barriers.
