Past Funding

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and Bureau of Justice Assistance will award a cooperative agreement to continue the activities of the National Gang Center (NGC). NGC tracks current research and trends on gangs and maintains a database of comprehensive information on the development and implementation of effective gang prevention, intervention, and suppression strategies.

OJJDP seeks to conduct a comprehensive process and rigorous impact evaluation of the Second Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative to determine the effectiveness of combining mentoring with other reentry services for participating juvenile offenders during their confinement, through their transition back to the community, and post-release. OJJDP will select one national evaluator to assess the implementation of these programs and their impact on service delivery and key outcomes for participating youth, including recidivism.

This solicitation invites applicants to propose national initiatives that will support the development, maturation, and expansion of community programs to provide mentoring services to Tribal youth populations on the reservations of federally-recognized Tribes.

This solicitation will fund research and evaluation studies to produce findings of practical use to practitioners, administrators, and policymakers in the development of effective programs, policies, and strategies for the prevention and intervention of Tribal youth delinquency. This will further our understanding of the experiences, strengths, and needs of Tribal youth, their families, and communities and what works to reduce their risks for delinquency, future delinquency, and victimization.

The fellowship presents an opportunity to help the federal government improve its partnership with federally-recognized Tribes on Tribal justice matters and in support of Tribal children and youth.

OJJDP seeks to establish a National Juvenile Justice Evaluation Center (NJJEC) that will advance the capacity of states, Tribes, and communities to develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices that support their ability to evaluate their activities and use the findings to enhance their juvenile justice activities and programs.

Under this program, the successful applicant will establish the OJJDP National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Youth in Custody to provide education, training, and technical assistance for state, local, and Tribal departments of juvenile justice and corrections, service providers, and private organizations that operate juvenile facilities.
