Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $513,798)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. The Department of Human Services/Division of Youth Services has determined the following priorities for Title II funding: Alternatives to Detention, Delinquency Prevention, Disproportionate Minority Contact, Probation, and Graduated and Appropriate Sanctions.
