Maine 2020 Title II Application

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act.

The Maine Department of Corrections will use FY20 funding to focus on cost-effective strategies centered on addressing Disproportionate Minority Contact, Compliance Monitoring, Juvenile Justice Systems Improvement, Community-Based Youth Development, Strength-Based Prevention and Effective Intervention Programs.
