The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force National Training Program is funded under the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2019, Pub. L. No. 116-6, 133 Stat. 13, 115. Under this program, the goal is to develop and deliver training to assist law enforcement, task force members, police agency command staff, and prosecutors on how to prevent, identify, and manage vicarious trauma due to long-term and repeated exposure to child exploitation images as part of their work responsibilities. The Innocent Justice Foundation will use grant funds to offer training to ICAC task force members and other justice professionals exposed to child pornography to help them mitigate negative effects and trauma. Training will include individual, case study, and managerial training for ICAC task force members and other exposed individuals; additional judicial training for judges and court personnel; specialized mental health professional and law enforcement leadership outreach, education, and mentoring; and a family/support curriculum for those who support justice professionals. In addition, the Supporting Heroes In mental health Foundational Training (SHIFT) program will continue to develop and update educational material on their website in order to make resources available to justice professionals worldwide 24 hours a day.
