Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $226,053)
The FY 2018 Addressing the Training Needs of Juvenile Prosecutors program will fund state agencies responsible for administering, managing, or overseeing the training, education, and professional development needs of juvenile prosecutors and their support staff. This funding will allow states to develop or expand training and/or professional development tailored to the unique needs and challenges related to the highly specialized practice of juvenile prosecution. This program is authorized pursuant to Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2018, Pub. L. No. 115141, 132 Stat. 348, 423, 426.
The Oklahoma District Attorneys Council will conduct regional and statewide training needs assessments with juvenile prosecutors and key stakeholders. The grantee will hold a minimum of four regional trainings over the life of the grant. In addition, existing training outlets such as the annual District Attorneys Council Summer and Fall Conference will be utilized to include juvenile prosecution breakout sessions. The grantee will create a network of experienced prosecutors to provide mentorship and case consultation and assignment of a Resource Prosecutor. CA/NCF
