Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $200,000)
This program is funded under the authority of the Providing Resources, Officers, and Technology to Eradicate Cyber Threats to Our Children Act of 2008, (P.L. 110-401, 42 USC 17601, et seq.)(The PROTECT Act). This project will develop and deliver training opportunities on specialized topic areas related to investigating and prosecuting technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation. Training areas may include, but are not limited to: cell phone technologies, wireless networks, peer-to-peer file sharing, encryption, on-scene investigative tools, and exploitation via social networking sites.
With this funding, SEARCH Group, Inc. will expand upon its multifaceted strategy to provide ICAC investigators with training to combat on-line child exploitation. This project will encompass several core deliverables, including hands-on, laboratory-based training; web-based, self-paced training; web-based, instructor-led training; and conference presentations. In addition, the project will provide for continuous technical assistance to ICAC Task Force members, forensic examiners, and prosecutors throughout the duration of the 12-month project via SEARCHs well-established web-based national technical assistance program.
