Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2012, $395,488)
Maryland's Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) continues to assume responsibility for the administration of the juvenile justice functions in the State; therefore, Maryland has requested a continuation of the waiver of the 75 percent of its FY 2012 JABG allocation to units of local government. The FY 2012 funds will support activities in Maryland that promote accountability, address public safety and re-entry of juvenile offenders from State and local custody into the community. More specifically, funds will support the following purpose areas: (11) accountability-based programs designed to reduce recidivism among juveniles who are referred by law enforcement agencies; and, (14) establishing and maintaining restorative justice programs.
