Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2011, $300,000)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

New Mexico's Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) plans to fund up to eight community-based innovative programs, utilizing best practices and evidence-based prevention and education strategies, to facilitate community partnerships to prevent and reduce underage drinking. CYFD will focus its enforcement activities on retail compliance checks, community events, and private parties. In addition, CYFD will support media campaigns, public information initiatives and merchant education programs. NCA/NCF
