Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $356,400)

The goal of the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Program is to support and enhance State efforts, in cooperation with local jurisdictions, to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors. For the purpose of the program, minors are defined as individuals under 21 years of age.

The State of Oregon plans to provide program funding to support underage drinking enforcement efforts throughout the State by implementing the following activities: implementation of a community grants project that focuses on high risk communities utilizing best practice strategies that may include, but not be limited to, minor decoy/compliance check activities, controlled party dispersal operations, shoulder tap programs, and retailer/community education. The FY 2010 EUDL Project will build upon the successes of the past and implement additional strategies to further reduce underage drinking rates. Target populations will include youth and parents, as well as alcohol retailers and other social sources of alcohol for minors. Tribal and Community grants focusing on law enforcement activities and a positive community norms project will highlight the strategies to be used with the FY 2010 EUDL funds.
