Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $849,848)

Using OJJDP funds, the National District Attorney Association (NDAA) will deliver national training courses for prosecutors. Unsafe Havens I: Prosecuting Online Crimes Against Children focuses on pre-trial and investigation; Unsafe Havens II: Prosecuting Online Crimes Against Children is an advanced trial advocacy course addressing jury selection through sentencing; and Safety Net, an advanced course for prosecutors with members of their multidisciplinary teams and includes a hands-on lab component. In addition, four CSE Update newletters and a weekly summary of CSE case-law will be produced.

The stated purposes of the Recovery Act are: to preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery; to assist those most impacted by the recession; to provide investments needed to increase economic efficiency by spurring technological advances in science and health; to invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits; and to stabilize State and local government budgets, in order to minimize and avoid reductions in essential services and counterproductive State and local tax increases. This project will create/retain one position.
