OJJDP's Demonstration Programs Division Grants were established to provide grants, cooperative agreements, and other assistance to organizations identified in the Conference Report to accompany the Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2010 (Pub. L. 111-117) -- H.R. Conf. Rep. No. 111-366.
The Center for Network Development (CND) will continue the implementation of the National Juvenile Information Sharing (JIS) Initiative during FY 2010 by expanding the program to include additional JIS test sites and continue to monitor the Colorado pilot site(s). The purpose of the National JIS Initiative is to improve procedures and policies of information sharing across state and local agencies, and with youth and juvenile services within communities. CND will utilize the modified Guidelines for Juvenile Information Sharing as part of the implementation strategies with new JIS test sites. These sites were selected based on the JIS Readiness Assessments conducted in FY2009. CND will use lessons learned from the previous JIS pilot sites to assist in the implementation of successful JIS, and continue development of data exchanges using the at-risk youth and juvenile justice data model and data in the Youth and Family Services Domain (YFS) with the selected JIS test sites. CND, working with OJJDP and other federal agencies will develop governance structures for the YFS domain. As the national leader of JIS, CND will design and deliver trainings about the new YFS domain, governance and security structures and data exchange processes to the at-risk youth and juvenile justice community.
