Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $33,486)
This program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.
Specifically, the State of New Jersey anticipates funding three continuation grants in FY 2009 in support of the New Jersey Governor's Strategy for Safe Streets and Neighborhoods initiative. Sub-grantees must meet the requirements set forth in 42 U.S.C. Section 5783(b) of the JJDP Act of 2002, and New Jersey shall give priority in funding to applicants that have demonstrated the ability to develop data-driven prevention plans and employ evidence-based strategies.
