Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $400,000)
The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians plans to provide prevention and mental health services to impact risk factors for juvenile delinquency. The project will serve at least 140 juveniles, ages 8 to 18, who are identified as having risk factors. The project will expand the current Tribal Youth Program for youth who are at-risk or involved in the criminal justice system with serious emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. The tribe aims to prevent and control delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system by: 1) reducing Siletz Tribal youth delinquency and violence; 2) providing prevention services to successfully reduce risk factors for delinquency and related behaviors; 3) developing and implementing a wraparound system of care for tribal youth with serious emotional, behavioral and mental health needs and for their families; 4) providing outpatient mental health services to high-risk youth and their families; and 5) providing mental health services to court involved youth and their families to reduce recidivism. The tribe will report on OJJDP's mandatory Tribal Youth Program performance measures.CA/NCF
