The Marilyn G Rabb (MGR) Foundation's Health and Well-being programs aim to support local communities in their efforts to become healthier and more active. The MGR Foundation's marathon running mentor program, Team M3~Chicago Student MentorRun, provides an alternative to gangs for at-risk youth. Team M3 will provide an after-school program for a number of Chicago's most underserved schools. The target population will be Latino youth in grades 9-12, who perform poorly in school, have limited English capabilities, have demonstrated anti-social or violent tendencies, or have begun to drift towards gangs. Team M3 will implement an afterschool and summer program that brings together peer and adult mentors with at-risk high school students to successfully train and complete the Chicago Marathon. Team M3 covers all the costs associated with training and marathon entry fees, logistics, and program management. Over the course of Team M3 training, the program conducts workshops, seminars, outings, and learning opportunities that provide participants an alternative to gangs. CA/NCF
