The Office of the State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit will implement a comprehensive gang response model that includes seven elements as put forth by the National District Attorneys' Association. The elements include a safe neighborhoods assessment, the identification of a mechanism for action, organizational change, community collaboration, community engagement, multi-disciplinary programming, and evaluation. A major focus will be on the identification, intervention, and prosecution of juveniles documented as actively involved, or at risk of becoming involved, in criminal street gangs. The program will also focus on retail theft reduction. Presentations and workshops will be conducted on retail theft prevention and strategies will be developed to include conditions of pre-filing diversion specific to retail theft intervention.
