The Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) will support efforts involving youth that return to the Baltimore City Public School System from placements in the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) facilities. A full time staff person will conduct assessments that will expedite the process in which students can enroll in the Alternative Options Program or return to comprehensive schools within the BCPSS. This staff person will be a member of the Baltimore Interagency Transition Team (BITT) and will also serve as the liaison for re-entry concerns from the juvenile court system and the DJS. Additionally, the BCPSS will conduct a series of professional development sessions for identified support staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in working with juvenile justice system involved youth and youth at high risk for involvement.
