Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $89,435)
Indiana Teen Challenge realizes that the transition from a residential treatment facility to everyday living can be overwhelming; thus better success transpires when a young lady is looking towards a productive future of education and healthy life skills rather than returning to their home without future goals and skills. The continued training of the consequences of returning to a drug, alcohol, or gang lifestyle is also important. Indiana Teen Challenge plans to help prepare young women for continued success by visiting several college campuses (both two and four year schools) to establish an interest in continued education. The program will help prepare girls with vocational skills and assistance in college preparation, and will also emphasize the dangers of returning to a destructive lifestyle by having the girls assist in drug prevention programs for many small groups at schools, clubs, and other civic groups. This project will plan to serve 24 girls during the year to increase their interest and skills for college. The project will also promote prevention of drug use to at least 40 groups of kids ages 12 and up. The skills and plans of the girls will be tracked. NCA/NCF
