Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $268,305)

Brooklyn, NY has the lowest amount of green space per capita of any U.S. county. Many Brooklyn children have limited access to the natural environment. The Conservancy is offering a three-program approach that will introduce school kids and day campers to their environment. This 30-month project will include: educational programming in the Park during the school year, a 'Green Team' stewardship program providing community service options for young people, and a summer Harbor Camp for day camp groups. The Conservancy seeks to serve approximately 4,600 young people within the project's timeframe. NCA/NCF
