Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $24,681)

The James L. Barnes Community Development Center will provide a productive learning environment to accommodate troubled youth. The program will serve to meet the needs of troubled youths by providing weekly mentoring, counseling, tutorial services and also computer technology skills. The desired goals of this particular program are to prevent at-risk students from becoming school dropouts and encourage them to become better law-abiding citizens. James L. Barnes CDC will track progress by reporting performance measures to OJJDP such as improvements in school attendance and academic achievement. NCA/NCF
