Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $24,678)

The Reaching Youth Project seeks to reduce the truancy rate through a series of community based activities involving the parents, children and other community organizations. The mission of the program is to provide advocacy and other resources for the children and families of Thomas County to prevent school failure. This one year project will offer classes once per week to a total of sixty (60) low income youth ages 10 to 16 who are at risk of dropping out or failing school. Progress will be measured by the number of programs participants attending and completing the twelve (16) week program. NCA/NCF
