Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $147,887)

Boysville, Inc. will implement the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Program services to approximately 100 children per year. The goal of the program is to help ensure future success for youth by providing them courses on independent living. The program will help youth to improve school attendance and grade point average; graduate from high school or obtain a GED; and improve family relationships (for youth who will be returning home to their families). The following services are provided: therapeutic intervention; behavior management; compensatory education; recreational activities; leadership development; and transitional living services. The project utilizes best practices in assessment and planning for the child and family and uses the Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment. Following discharge from the program, youth will have developed the skills and values they need to resist delinquent behavior and maintain a course toward successful independent living.
