The Nassau County Youth Board will provide community education/awareness, employability skills training and job placement services for at-risk and/or gang-involved youth ages 12-21 in Nassau County, NY. This initiative will be county wide, with a focus on the Hempstead, Freeport, Roosevelt, New Castle/Westbury and Uniondale communities. The Prevention/Intervention initiative will decrease reliance on youth gangs by providing positive examples of alternatives for at-risk youth. The program will consist of psychosocial and career development assessments, and will provide opportunities for the youth to experience work through job-shadowing, on-the-job training, and apprenticeships. The performance of this initiative will be measured through accurate documentation of work progress, development and educational success.NCA/NCF
