Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $394,657)

The goal of the proposed project is to implement the Hope Meadows model for promoting the successful development of adopted foster care youth, through cultivation of intergenerational relationships and active community engagement.Generations of Hope will accomplish their goals and objectives as follows: 1) Organize and document educational and intergenerational activities for youth that promote and sustain community engagement and emergence of purposeful relationships; 2) Develop and document practices that encourage the informal and secrendipituous development of relationships; 3) Develop and document practices that promote positive self-identity of youth; 4) Document the ways in which youth actively initiate relationships and shape an emerging network of community support; 5) Document the ways in which an intergenerational program of community engagement can adapt to the special needs, potential, desires and strengths of vulnerable youth; and 6) Product documentation and reports.Generation of Hope will report perfomance measures to OJJDP that include the number of successful activities implemented and the success of the community engagement as measured by a survey of community organizations.NCA/NCF
