Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $246,661)
The goal of the Teen Challenge of Illinois Project (TCIL) is to ultimately decrease juvenile delinquency by reducing substance use and abuse among at-risk youth in the State if Illinois. The achieve this goal, the project has two specific objectives: To expand TIL's educational and outreach services in 25 Illinois counties currently unserved or undeserved by TCIL and to increase awareness about TIL's residential treatment program for adolescent girls. The project, directed primarily to youth, their parents, and any authorities involved with youth, will include a substance abuse educational campaign and outreach for adolescents struggling with dependence and seeking effective treatment. TCIL plan to send four field representatives into 25 Illinois counties. Teen Challenge will report on the number of presentations made and the improved school attendance of the adolescent girls.
