Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2004, $148,422)
The Southeast Alabama Youth Leadership Academy provides detention and rehabilitation services for delinquent male juveniles in Henry and Houston Counties. The academy serves as a residential dispositional alternative, targeting juvenile males 12-19 years of age who have been placed in custody of the juvenile justice system. The Academy cadets must successfully complete a thirteen week program that includes both physical training and academic instruction. The grantee will measure program effectiveness via pre-test results reports, progress reports by Juvenile Probation Officers, academic records and after-care reports. The Southeast Alabama Youth Leadership Academy will report progress to OJJDP in their Categorical Assistance Progress Reports. NCA/NCF
