Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2003, $59,610)

The North Shore Youth Council (NSYC)will provide a safe community environment by providing life skills training for youth. The NSYC will provide on-going support services both during and after schools hours to youth and families by sponsoring family counseling sessions and holding drug and alcohol free events during non schools hours. In addition North Shore will conduct outreach services to the community to link businesses with interested youth.

The NSYC's goals are to expand existing efforts to reduce alcohol and substance abuse in the community thru positive alternatives. The NSYC will provide support groups for students in the schools.
