The Fort Peck Tribes Crisis Center, a non-profit victim services agency, will use this supplemental award to provide comprehensive and culturally appropriate services to Native women victims of domestic violence and sexual assault residing on the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes Reservation in rural northeastern Montana. Key project activities include: 1) providing training on the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault to law enforcement, prosecution, and judges; 2) collaborating with Montana Legal Services to provide legal services to victims; 3) continued funding for the Tribal Safe House/Shelter for the provision of shelter, transportation, and support services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; and 4) recruiting and training volunteers to assist and support victims.
