FY 2003 OJJDP DISCRETIONARY CONTINUATION PROGRAM - TRAINING

The Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) Project provides training, technical assistance (TA), and resource materials to States, local jurisdictions, and juvenile justice (also service) agencies for implementation of the BARJ model. The BARJ model supports juvenile justice goals which emphasize community safety, offender accountability to victims and communities, and offender competency development for noncriminal pursuits. The BARJ Project maintains a Clearinghouse of BARJ trainers and resources. The Project's predominant training program is training of BARJ trainers. Areas of training include BARJ implementation and management, group conferencing, restorative justice practices in schools, and other topics. TA efforts are focused on capacity building and leadership development for BARJ oriented juvenile justice reform.
