PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 2001-JS-FX-0014
Brown County, South Dakota, through the Brown County Commission, is requesting funding to enhance educational, medical, recreational and safety resources for juvenile detatined at their Juvenile Detention Center, as well as to expand certain prevention and intervention programming for at-risk youth and their families in the community. Additional staff will be hired for the Juvenile Detention Center to provide medical, recreational, and counseling services, and additional equipement and supplies will be purchased. Expanding prevention and intervention programs in the community will be achieved through the hiring of additional personnel and through the enhancements of programs such as Home Detention, Teen Court, Parents as Teachers, and Home-Based Services. This strategy also includes training and staff development for juveniles, law enforcement, service providers and the community on a myriad of youth issues.
