FY 2004 Continuation Drug-Free Communities Support Program

York County TREND (Turning Recreational Excitement in New Directions), Inc. acts as its own fiscal agent. The coalition serves York County, PA, an geographically diverse community with a population of approximately 381,751. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and strengthening community antidrug coalitions, York County TREND, Inc. will implement the following strategies: 1) increase the number of drug free youth leaders in York County by developing opportunities for teens to develop and flex their leadership skills; 2) reduce risk factors and increase protective factors for teens in York County through community service projects, drug awareness campaigns, and social and recreational opportunities; 3) assist adult advisors who are currently working with TREND chapters throughout York County by utilizing flyers, the TREND newsletter, and meetings with advisors or TREND chapters; and 4) strengthen collaboration with the community and increasing awareness of the coalition's activities through speaking engagements and newspaper articles.CA/NCF
