Project summary for 2001-AH-FX-1010
The purpose of this program is to reduce underage drinking by expanding the number of communities taking a comprehensive approach to the problem, with a special emphasis on increasing law enforcement activity with regard to the sale of alcohol to minors; and to develop and implement strategies that coordinate State-level planning and program activity with community program activities developed under this effort.

Also, to enhance an underage drinking coalition in each comprehensive community program, with a special emphasis on increasing law enforcement participation; ensure that there is a local EUDL program coordinator; develop a strategic plan to direct EUDL program activity in each comprehensive community program based on a local needs assessment that deals with underage drinking, with a special emphasis on enforcement activity regarding sale of alcohol to minors; increase enforcement commitment and involvement as an integral part of the program to enforce underage drinking laws; encourage youth leadership and participation in planning and program activities at the State and local level; demonstrate coordination between State-level planning and program activity and community program activities developed under this effort; develop a training and technical assistance strategy, in collaboration with the OJJDP-funded training and technical assistance, in support of the EUDL initiative in the selected jurisdictions; and develop and implement a data collection strategy, in collaboration with OJJDP-funded evaluation, to determine effectiveness of the efforts of both State and local jurisdictions to combat underage drinking.
