Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2000, $99,900)

The Peer Assistance Services, Inc. is the fiscal agent of the Partnership for a Drug-Free Colorado (PDFC) coalition. PDFC serves the city and county of Denver, an urban area with a population of 554,636. The goals of the program are to: 1) reduce substance abuse by youth and adults, and 2) build capacity to prevent substance abuse. To achieve these goals, the coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) support Strengthening Families and other prevention programs in schools, faith-based organizations, and community-based organizations;
2) support and implement youth peer programs;
3) collaborate with other Colorado DFCSPs to increase resources and capacity;
4) support parenting and drug prevention skills programs for parents;
5) conduct and market an ongoing recruitment campaign to increase participation in the coalition; and
6) update, revise, and disseminate prevention information via print, electronic and other forms of media. CA/NCF
