Project Sumary for 2000-JG-FX-0001
The I Have a Dream (IHAD) Foundation leads a national network of 77 "I Have a Dream" Projects in 20 states that serve students in low-income communities, helping participating youth, called "Dreamers" to overcome the statistical odds against earning a high school diploma and going to college. Each Project provides the students they serve with a comprehensive, long-term program of mentoring, tutoring, counseling, and enrichment that encourages each child to stay in school, gain academic skills, and aspire to higher education and the career of their choice. The Projects provide financial assistance for college or vocational school to every student in their program who graduates from high school or obtains a GED. The IHAD Foundation provides technical assistance, resources and support to staff and sponsors. The IHAD Foundation also plays a key role in opening new "I Have a Dream Projects" in communities across the country. During the coming year, the IHAD Foundation will focus activities in five major areas: Technical Assistance, Professional Development, Expansion, Evaluation and Assessment, and National Recognition.
